The mechanism of action is likely via improved insulin signaling and reducing insulin resistance. However, ALA is a mixture of both R+ and S forms. AOR was the first company in the world to introduce the pure R+ lipoic acid, which is the far superior antioxidant to the ALA mixture, which contains both good and bad forms.
