History The Nutmeg tree is a tropical tree native to Indonesia that produces nutmeg. It can grow 12 metres tall and live for 100 years. It only produces nutmeg after eight years but will then produce it for more than 60 years. When grated, nutmeg is used to season meats, soups and pureed vegetables, as well as dishes like potatoes au gratin and Quiche Lorraine.
