History
Bitter Orange (Citrus aurantium, var. amara or Citrus Bigaradia) is a tree native to Asia, now found in Mediterranean regions and in countries with a temperate climate. Three essential oils can be extracted from the Bitter Orange tree: from the leaves, PetitGrain – Bitter Orange essential oil, with its calming properties; from the blossoms, Neroli essential oil, also used to make Orange Blossom water; and from the rind of its fruit, Bitter Orange essential oil, used in liqueurs and aperitifs (Grand Marnier, Curaçao, Cointreau, etc.).
