5-HTP is a naturally-occurring amino acid and the precursor to serotonin, the neurotransmitter often touted for its role as a “happiness hormone”. Taking 5-HTP is a simple way to increase brain serotonin levels. 5-HTP affects the brain and the central nervous system by increasing the production of serotonin. Medicinal Ingredients: L-5-Hydroxytriptophan 50 mg (Isolated from Griffonia simplicifolia seeds), Non Medicinal Ingredients: Microcrystalline cellulose, vegetable stearate, hypromellose (capsule shell). Does not contain: Dairy, egg, gluten, soy, wheat, corn, yeast, nuts, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, colors or flavors. 5-HTP is commonly used for improving general mood, aid with sleep disorders such as insomnia caused by low mood and is useful to those experiencing low mood associated anxiety, migraine and/or some headache forms. Recommended dose: Adults take 2 capsules 3 times per day. Take with food. For healthy mood balance, use for a minimum of 1 week to see beneficial effects.
To minimize the risk of gastrointestinal side effects, start dosing at 50–100 mg, 2–3 times per day and slowly increase to effective dose over 2 week period. Cautions: Do not use if you have scleroderma.
