Description
Kamut® or Triticum polonium is an unhybridized, high-energy grain that is an ancient relative of durum wheat. It is amber-yellow in colour, and has a rich buttery, nutty flavour.
Ingredients
Organic Kamut Khorasan wheat grain.
Directions
Rinse 1 cup of Kamut® kernels. Add 2 1/2 cups of boiling water in a pot and cover. Lower heat and simmer for 45 minutes or until the grain is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
Uses
Unlike whole wheat durum that cooks up soft and mushy, Kamut® becomes light and firm when used in recipes. It can be used in place of standard wheat berries in cereals, pilafs, grain salads, or with vegetables.
Storage
Product should be stored in a clean, dry place at a temperature not exceeding 60˚F and 60% relative humidity. Shelf life of the grain is 6 months to 1 year.
