Description
Torula yeast is a primary grown, dried inactive yeast. It is an outstanding flavour carrier, flavour modifier, and nutritional agent. It is not capable of fermentation and is considered as a highly digestible and nutritious food. This fine, light brown powder has a slightly yeasty odour and a gentle, meaty taste.
Uses
Torula Yeast is used to enhance the savoury and umami notes in foods as well as seasoning blends. It is also used in soups, sauces, rice dishes, and cheese and snack dips. Torula Yeast is rich in glutamic acid so it lends a smoky, savoury, umami taste profile to many foods. It can be used to mimic meat flavour (in veggie burgers, for example) without adding any animal products.
Storage
Product should be kept in a cool, dry area at a temperature not exceeding 15°C and protected from direct light. Expected shelf life is 10 months when stored under the above conditions. Once the bag is opened, keep the yeast in a tightly closed container.
